Today’s topic is “lip care after permanent makeup.” Permanent lip makeup albeit to a micro degree is an intervention in the human body. And after any manipulations, the skin of the lips needs careful care. The injured cells are fully restored about a month after the procedure. During this period, it is essential to care for your lips at home properly.
How exactly, a professional permanent makeup expert must explain it to the client.
Lip Care Rules After Permanent Makeup
Do not remove the formed crust. With permanent lip makeup, the dye is injected into the skin shallowly. Therefore, along with removing the crust, there is a risk of removing all the pigment. As a result, the final shade can be much lighter than desired.
Try to keep the treated area dry. During rehabilitation, you need to refrain from water procedures associated with visiting the pool, bath, or sauna. The ban applies to both contacts with chlorinated water and seawater.
Minimize sun exposure. Prolonged exposure to the open sun after lip micro-pigmentation is contraindicated, as well as visiting a solarium. After walking in sunny weather, you should lubricate your lips with sunscreen.
Do not use soap for hygiene purposes. It is better to replace soap with cosmetic milk in washing and then use a tonic or lotion.
Refuse alcohol-containing drugs. Such products and those containing antibiotics or hydrogen peroxide can cause discoloration and even discoloration of lips with permanent makeup.
Limit the use of makeup. Any makeup on the lips, especially with cosmetics containing fruit acids or other aggressive ingredients, is not recommended for the first month after the procedure. Alternatively, opt for chapstick or balm to help smooth the crust and protect it from cracking.
Apply healing medications. To accelerate the skin’s healing process, you can use special ointments, medicinal oils (sea buckthorn, stone fruit), or conventional creams with vitamins A and D without lightening additives. The only condition is that the healing agent should be applied with a thin layer of a cotton swab, and if it is used abundantly, the excess should be removed with a napkin.
Use professional tools. Competent experts, as a rule, recommend using special preparations such as Actovegin or Solcoseryl to care for the damaged area of the lips. Thanks to their anti-inflammatory properties, they contribute to the rapid healing of wounds and good fixation of the pigment under the skin.
Remember that the result of permanent lip makeup depends not only on the qualifications and experience of the expert but also on your correct adherence to the recommendations of a specialist.
How to Care for Lips After Permanent Makeup?
The period of lip healing after tattooing is highly individual. The skin is restored on average in 5-7 days. And about three more weeks are required for complete cell regeneration. How long and comfortable the rehabilitation will be after applying permanent makeup is directly influenced by the extent to which proper lip care is provided.
Immediately after the procedure, the affected area swells. Over time, the swelling subsides on its own. It does not cause significant discomfort. Also, clients have moderate pain syndrome. The master will advise an anesthetic drug for its relief. On the first day, in addition, numbness of the lips may persist. It is due to the use of an anesthetic drug.
On the second day, the numbness disappears, the pain weakens, and the swelling begins to fade. By the third day, lips may itch and flake off.
Lip Care in The First Days After Permanent Makeup
The tattoo artist will prescribe a healing ointment. It is applied in the salon after the end of the procedure with preliminary disinfection of the lips. Usually, it is Depanthenol and Bepanten.
Two hours after tattooing, you need to rinse your lips with cool water and antibacterial soap. A thin layer of ointment is applied to dry, clean skin. It should be done for 7-10 days. In the first four days – every 2-3 hours. Then 3-4 times a day. Before applying the ointment, the lips must be disinfected with Chlorhexidine each time. In the morning and the evening, permanent makeup is washed with cool water and antibacterial soap.
The key to the healing process is to prevent crusting. They have a detrimental effect on tattooing.
With proper care, on the 3-4th day, the skin begins to peel off at the tattoo site, and the color becomes lighter. It indicates a normal healing process.
If the permanent makeup area has become very dry overnight, you can lubricate it with Vaseline for 30 minutes in the morning.
One of the destructive factors is ultraviolet light. Therefore, a protective agent should be applied before going outside.
