Mermaid Braid – Hairstyle for Long Hair

Mermaid Braid

This hairstyle is perfect for girls with long, straight hair. A mermaid braid is not suitable for active entertainment, such as dancing or outdoor games, as it is quite fragile. You can make this beautiful hairstyle for a walk, to school, for a photo shoot or for a holiday.

The mermaid braid is based on weaving a regular French braid, while the strands are taken very thin and do not tighten, but remain slightly loose.

We Need:

  • comb;
  • hair spray;
  • elastic band.

Time to create a hairstyle: 5-10 minutes.

Step 1.

Comb your hair gently along the entire length; it should be smooth and free from tangles. The parting is located in the middle.

Step 2.

Separate a small strand from the temple area on one side and spray it with hairspray a little. This must be done so that our hairstyle does not fall apart. Do the same on the other side, but take the strand a little more, as we will divide it in two to start weaving the 3-strand braid.

Step 3.

Weave the strands once to start. Now we take a new independent strand on one side of the temporal part and weave it into our braid, on the other side we also do it. Now add new strands each time until the French braid is of the desired length. At the same time, do not tighten the strands, the hair should lie freely.

Step 4.

From the remaining three strands, we braid a regular braid and secure it with an elastic band. In order for the hairstyle to preserve its appearance for a long time, sprinkle it with hairspray.

Helpful Hint: To decorate your hair, you can attach a bow to the back of your head or tie a ribbon at the end of your braid. You can also use a beautiful headband, then your little princess will look like a beautiful nymph!

Another hairstyle option: the example shows a small French braid, if desired, weaving can continue and make a long French braid as in the photo below.
